New Caravan Dedicated by Archbishop Barry
This year families benefiting from a Mothers’ Union ‘ Away From It All’ holiday will be spending their week in a brand new caravan at Porthcawl. Lynne Davies, Diocesan President was delighted that Archbishop Barry, who over the years has given his continuous, loyal support to Llandaff’s Breakaway holiday project, had made time in his busy schedule before retiring to visit the new caravan and dedicate it. He is pictured outside the caravan, which has been sited on the same convenient pitch.
In 2016 the Trustee Board agreed that the previous caravan, purchased in 2009 had given excellent service but as each year sees on average 30 families enjoying a much needed break, it was time to consider replacing it. Much thought and consideration went into obtaining the model best suited for the families who would be using it. We are confident that we have found the right caravan and this has been made possible through the amazing fundraising effort our members from all deaneries and branches during 2016. The fundraising included grand afternoon teas, happy coffee mornings, enjoyable concerts and our Cardiff Half Marathon runner Andrew Davies raised a staggering £1721 through sponsorship.
