St David’s Pencoed raises £700 for the Caravan
The St David’s branch Pencoed organised an Easter afternoon tea on April 19th to raise money for the AFIA project. An amazing time was had by members and friends and they raised an unbelievable amount of £700.00 for the caravan fund. The hall was full and the atmosphere was one of warmth and friendship. The tea equalled any 5 star hotel! They were entertained with a tap dance duet by two talented dancers David Sheldon and Grace Thompson. David is Joan, the branch leader’s grandson. He has qualified for the World Dance Cup in Germany in June and has been chosen as team Captain and Flag Bearer for Team Wales! We wish them both well for the future.
On Wednesday May 3rd, Lowrie Washington Jones (A & O Coordinator) went to meet the branch and spoke about the benefits that the AFIA holiday scheme had on those families whose lives had met with adversity and accepted the very generous donation on behalf of the Diocese. Well done all! We look forward to welcoming some of the members at the open week in Porthcawl – I hope our cakes will be as good as yours.
