Praying around the Diocese
A simple idea : we have been out and about bringing a focus of prayer to where you are – or as near as possible! It began last year where our annual theme was Celebrating our Faith and we have kept going.
The pattern has been that we start the morning with a a time of fellowship over coffee and biscuits and follow this with an Eucharist provided by the home incumbent, finishing off by joining together for a time of reflection. The Diocesan Spirituality Committee have helped with the reflections and it’s been good to make that link.
Our first trip was to All Saints in Porthcawl in July 2016 coinciding with the open week of our AFIA caravan and this was our prayer focus. Then we travelled to St Elvans Aberdare in October 2016 preparing for Advent. This year we were at St John Baptist in Ystradyfodwg in March for Stations of the Cross and then St David’s in Neath in November again for Advent reflections. We will be in Llantwit Major in February next year. It has been good to create these spaces for prayer and to have the opportunity for fellowship. A big thank you to all our host parishes.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
