Annual Council Meeting 2024
Our Annual Diocesan Council meeting was held once again at the Clayton Hotel in Cardiff.
The Council meeting began with an opening worship led by Revd Sandra Birdsall. Following a short address by the Diocesan President on the highlights of the past year, she thanked the outgoing Trustee Board for their superb work in developing Llandaff MU in all areas of work. The results of the elections for the Trustee Board to serve in the next Triennium were announced.
Informative and interesting updates were given by Sheila Jones Treasurer and our Unit Coordinators, Jean Starr (Finance & Administration) Lowrie Washington Jones (Action & Outreach) Raye Saunders (Communication) and Margaret Jones (Faith Development).
Midday Prayers were led by Margaret Jones.
Following an enjoyable lunch, our guest speaker was the Very Revd. Dr Jason Bray, Dean of Llandaff who entertained us with the story of his life and faith journey. Mothers’ Union looks forward to working with Jason in the coming years.
Mr Dave Kitchen, author of ‘The Bible in Ten’ gave us a short, stimulating address about his book and he is available to give talks to branches.
We had very informative presentations from Pauline Redwood, branch leader of St David’s Neath; Josie Bolton, branch leader of Llantrisant branch who have achieved the Gold Award of the RISE UP challenge. This was followed by Liz Jones, Llantwit Fardre branch leader who gave a talk on the ‘Grange Project’ supporting young people in supported accommodation.
It was so good to see so many members enjoying fellowship and meeting once again in lovely surroundings.
